Hello all of my students! Good day to you all, and happy times we are entering in the yugioh community with the introduction of Link summoning! This new mechanic brings many new rules, combos, and observations to the game, while both slowing it down and speeding it up at the same time! Link summoning is quite similar to synchro summoning in the fact that you send monsters to the graveyard in order to summon the link monster from the extra deck. The differences is that it requires a number of monsters (specific type if required by the monster) equal to the link. For example, Firewall Dragon is a Link 4 monster, so he would require 4 monsters. However, link monsters are also able to be used as materials for a higher link monster as well, and its link counts for that many monsters, such as Link 2 proxy dragon and 2 other monsters into said Firewall Dragon. These monsters also are summoned into the Extra Monster Zone located in between both player's fields. Link monsters have markers that point either to your zones or your opponents, and you may (or your opponent, if pointing to their field) summon monsters from the extra deck into the zones that these markers indicate. However, if a synchro, xyz, fusion, or pendulum monster is summoned from the extra deck, they also go into the extra deck zone. Since these monsters don't have markers, you cannot summon any more extra deck monsters until it is destroyed. Tokens are allowed to be used as long as they are specified. There is also a way of locking your opponent out of their extra deck through a process called Extra Link. This is possible through special summoning link monsters onto your field properly until you are able to summon into the other extra deck zone as well. If this happens and no markers are pointing to your opponent's field, then they are unable to special summon an extra deck monster to the monster zone or to a marker, rendering their extra deck useless.
Now that most of this is out of the way, Time for Homework! Post an image of you winning with a link monster properly summoned on the field. 10 AP will be awarded to those who do so!
